This bulletin from the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SARE) recommends strategies that may help to integrate range management techniques that have long-term benefits for people, their land and their communities.
SARE advises that range managers implement the following techniques listed on p. 1 of the report: “Set clear goals, understand the plants and their needs, graze with various livestock species, monitor the vegetation, protect soil and water and work with other experts”. Numerous case studies from across the US are featured, demonstrating the positive impact sustainable ranching can have on the environment and the economy.
