This book was created over a number of years by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) to assist range managers in the stewardship of rangeland resources in Saskatchewan.

As described on p. 60, the book takes the approach that “grazing management must be tailored to match available resources, maximize energy capture and flow, balance forage production and consumption by animals, optimize forage yield and livestock performance, prevent overgrazing, optimize ecosystem functions, and be economically and ecologically feasible.” In great detail, the book outlines practices that can help to achieve these actions such as rotational grazing, riparian management, invasive species management and renewable energy sources. In addition, the book advocates partnerships with conservation bodies to monitor and assess rangeland health over time.
